Peter A. Chapman is the CEO of Editorial Director of Beard Group, Inc. A 30-year publisher serving corporate restructuring and complex litigation professionals, Mr. Chapman serves as editor-in-chief for Turnarounds & Workouts, Troubled Company Reporter and other niche market publications, as well as 300 business, legal and financial book titles.
Mr. Chapman has served in a variety of roles in chapter 11 restructuring cases since 1988, including organizing and serving on creditors’ committees, marketing and selling debtors’ assets, proposing a competing chapter 11 plan, trading in unsecured claims as principal and agent, and successfully litigating to strike offensive provisions in chapter 11 plans that disenfranchise or discriminate against creditors and equity holders based on their identity rather than the contractual terms of their securities under applicable law.
Mr. Chapman has extensive investment experience in insolvency situations, reorganizations and restructurings of major U.S. corporations, and studies insolvency history from the time of the Babylonians and the Assyrians to the present.
Mr. Chapman assists financial journalists in reporting and writing about bankruptcy and complex litigation matters, and has been quoted in The Wall Street Journal, The Financial Times, The New York Times, Bloomberg News, Dow Jones, Forbes and other publications over the past three decades.
Mr. Chapman helps produce and host the annual Distressed Investing Conference on the Monday following Thanksgiving Day in Midtown Manhattan.
Mr. Chapman earned a bachelor of science in accounting from the University of Cincinnati in 1987.
